Casa Pascoli Museum, together with the Tower (Villa Torlonia) represents the center of Pascoli's memory: the recollection of moments spent in San Mauro during his childhood and youth make this place full of charm. Giovanni Pascoli's poetry was born here, in the memory of a happy period that recurs continuously in his work, of that carefree childhood suddenly shattered by a gunshot that struck his father Ruggero on August 10, 1867. Casa Pascoli has been a national monument since 1924. Destroyed during World War II (only the kitchen remained intact), it was rebuilt exactly as it was and transformed into a small domestic museum. Inside, in addition to the kitchen, you can visit the study, where rare editions of some of his works and numerous autographed letters sent to friends in Sammoira are preserved in display cases, and the bedroom, with its ancient wooden cradle. The tour is enriched by two multimedia stations which, in addition to providing an in-depth look at the life and poetry of Giovanni Pascoli, create a highly evocative atmosphere through the listening of poetic texts and memories interpreted by the well-known actor Lino Guanciale. Outside, there is a beautiful garden with some of the plants mentioned by the poet in his poems and, in the center of the garden, on a limestone plinth, a bronze bust dedicated to the poet. During the summer, weekly guided tours of the places associated with Pascoli are organized in the Giardino.
